چکیده

A new formulation for the numerical solution of low Mach number compressible flow problems is presented and analyzed. In this formulation the thermal part (energy and species equations) is solved implicitly and decoupled from the momentum equation, whereas the hydrodynamic part (momentumcontinuity) is advanced in time using a high order splitting approach which results in overall high order accuracy in time and minimal errors in mass conservation. These errors are analyzed using both analytical tools and benchmark numerical examples. Results from two-dimensional simulations with one-step global reaction in opposed jet flame and porous particle configurations are also presented.

A preconditioned solver for sharp resolution of multiphase flows at all Mach numbers

A preconditioned five-equation two-phase model coupled with an interface sharpening technique is introduced for simulation of a wide range of multiphase flows with both high and low Mach regimes. Harten-Lax-van Leer-Contact (HLLC) Riemann solver is implemented for solving the discretized equations while tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) interface sharpening method is applied ...

Simulation of Premixed Combustion Flow around Circular Cylinder using Hybrid Random Vortex

This research describes the unsteady two-dimensional reacting flows around a circular cylinder. The numerical solution combines the random vortex method for incompressible two-dimensional viscous fluid flow with a Simple Line Interface Calculation (SLIC) algorithm for the propagation of flame interface. To simplify the governing equations, two fundamental assumptions namely Low Mach Number and ...

v 1 2 9 Se p 20 05 Low Mach Number Modeling of Type Ia Supernovae

We introduce a low Mach number equation set for the large-scale numerical simulation of carbon-oxygen white dwarfs experiencing a thermonuclear defla-gration. Since most of the interesting physics in a Type Ia supernova transpires at Mach numbers from 0.01 to 0.1, such an approach enables both a considerable increase in accuracy and savings in computer time compared with frequently used compres...

Frequency - Domain DSMC Method for Oscillatory Gas Flows

Submitted for the DFD14 Meeting of The American Physical Society Frequency-Domain DSMC Method for Oscillatory Gas Flows DANIEL LADIGES, JOHN SADER, The University of Melbourne — Gas flows generated by resonating nanoscale devices inherently occur in the non-continuum, low Mach number regime. Numerical simulation of such flows presents a tremendous challenge, which has motivated the development ...

Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Subsonic Compressible Flow through Rectangular Microchannel

In this study, turbulent compressible gas flow in a rectangular micro-channel is numerically investigated. The gas flow assumed to be in the subsonic regime up to Mach number about 0.7. Five low and high Reynolds number RANS turbulence models are used for modeling the turbulent flow. Two types of mesh are generated depending on the employed turbulence model. The computations are performed for R...
